Cement tiles should be maintained with an acid-free agent. We sell an acid-free mopping soap that is extremely suitable for Portuguese tiles (cement tiles) and offers very good protection during daily use. Portuguese cement tiles must be mopped at least every 2 weeks with mop soap, green soap or other soft soap without aggressive or caustic ingredients.
Acid substances are not good for Portuguese tiles. Be careful with products such as chlorine, vinegar, all-purpose cleaner and other strong acid-containing agents. As soon as they come into contact with cement tiles, they can damage the surface and leave unsightly stains. Also be careful with fruit juice, wine or whole fat products such as oil, butter or mayonnaise. Fatty products leave a grease stain that is difficult to remove.
If the floor is well impregnated and is maintained weekly with mop soap, then a protective layer is created on the tiles so that outside influences have virtually no chance. In the event of contamination on cement tiles, this must be removed immediately and must not be allowed to retract.
